Class 2 Medical
A Class 2 Aviation Medical is required for those pursuing a Private Pilot Licence (PPL), Student Pilot Licence (SPL), or for pilots flying recreationally in South Africa. It is also the starting point for anyone considering a professional career in aviation.
During your Class 2 medical examination, we complete all investigations required under SACAA regulations, which may include:
Comprehensive physical examination
Vision and hearing assessments
Lung function testing
ECG (resting) to check heart health
Audiometry (hearing screening)
Blood tests, if indicated
X-rays, where necessary (done with our radiology partner in the area)
With your Class 2 medical certificate, you will be compliant with SACAA standards, giving you the freedom to enjoy flying recreationally or to continue your journey towards a professional licence.
Class 4 Medical
A Class 4 Aviation Medical is required for individuals who want to become cabin crew members (flight attendants). This examination ensures you are physically fit to carry out your safety duties on board and capable of handling in-flight responsibilities.
Your Class 4 medical includes:
Comprehensive physical examination
Vision and hearing assessments
Lung function testing
ECG (resting) to check heart health
Audiometry (hearing screening)
Blood tests, if indicated
X-rays, where necessary (done with our radiology partner in the area)
All assessments are conducted in line with SACAA cabin crew medical standards, ensuring that you are compliant and prepared to begin your aviation career.
Most results and certificates are available on the same day, so you can move forward without unnecessary delays.
General Consultation
Your health is the foundation of your aviation journey. A general consultation at the Aviation Medical Centre is a confidential and supportive appointment designed to help you address health concerns, monitor your wellbeing, and prepare for the demands of aviation.
During your consultation, Dr. Tejis Devchand will:
Review your full medical history
Conduct a comprehensive physical examination
Order additional investigations (blood tests, ECG, lung function, etc.) if required
Provide personalised advice and management plans to keep you fit for flying
This is more than just a check-up — it’s your opportunity to take proactive control of your health with a doctor who understands the unique needs of pilots and aviation professionals.
